Sue McIndoe, Day Service Manager relates:
"Stevenage LD day Service (formerly known as Leyden House) is a day service for adults with learning disabilities with five bases in Stevenage providing day care activities for 80 people of all ability levels. Leyden House (in Gunnels Wood Road) was neighbours with Stevenage Circuits for many years and were in regular receipt of a generous cash donation every Christmas to the Amenity Fund. This tradition continued when Stevenage Circuits relocated to Caxton Way. Over the years the money has gone towards providing equipment and activities for service users. This has included computers, CD players, Wii's, DVD's, employing a graffiti artist, trips out and hiring entertainment for parties and events that everyone has benefited from and enjoyed.
In 2011 Rob and Mel Brown donated their wedding gifts (renewal of vows on their 25th) to Leyden House, requesting money towards a flat screen television instead of gifts. From Rob, Mel and their guests we were incredibly fortunate to receive two 42 inch flat screen televisions, two DVD players and various DVD's. We were blown away by their generosity and it has made the film shows, using the Wii and karaoke machine much more enjoyable.
Yet again this year Stevenage Circuits have come up trumps with a huge £500 donation towards enabling our football team to compete in a tournament in Spain, their fantastic donation has paid for our registration costs. Thank You".
